Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows SmartScreen warn me during installation?
Mcaster1Studio uses a self-signed code signing certificate. Windows SmartScreen may show a warning for software from publishers it does not yet recognize. To proceed, click More info then Run anyway. The installer imports the signing certificate during installation to prevent future warnings.
What are the system requirements?
Mcaster1Studio requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 (x64) with at least 8 GB RAM. A multi-core processor is recommended for real-time audio encoding and AI features. No admin rights are required for installation — the app installs to your user profile directory.
Is Mcaster1Studio free?
Yes. The early beta is completely free to download and use. There are no feature locks, time limits, or watermarks. We want broadcasters to test, explore, and provide feedback as we develop toward a stable release.
Which AI providers are supported?
Mcaster1Studio supports 6 AI providers:
  • Ollama — Local/private AI (no internet required)
  • Claude — Anthropic
  • ChatGPT — OpenAI
  • Grok — xAI
  • Gemini — Google
  • Venice — Venice.ai

Configure your preferred provider and API key in Preferences > AI Integration.

Can I use my own database?
Yes. Mcaster1Studio supports 5 database backends: SQLite (default, zero-config), MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Firebird, and SQL Server (MSSQL via ODBC). Configure servers in Preferences > DB Servers and assign them per-surface.
Is Mcaster1Studio portable?
Yes. All configuration, databases, logs, themes, and plugins are stored inside the installation directory. Nothing is written to the Windows Registry, AppData, or roaming profiles. You can copy the entire install folder to a USB drive or another machine.
How do I update to a newer version?
Download the latest installer from the Downloads page and install over the existing folder. Your configuration (config/), databases (data/), and logs (logs/) are preserved. The installer only replaces application binaries and DLLs.
